So what are huckleberries, and why are they made so well-known in Bozeman, Montana, and across the state? If this is your first visit to the mountains of Northwest Montana, you make be unfamiliar with these addictive little purple nuggets of deliciousness. At first glance these look like small blueberries, but that's where the similarities end. Every July, the Troy, Montana locals (most of the people and all of the bears) head for the hills above 3,000 feet to hunt the green hillsides for purple gold.
